Webinar | Belgium’s new cybersecurity Act: what does it mean for you?

On the 3rd of May 2019 Belgium’s first overarching cybersecurity law (dubbed the Network and Information Security or NIS Act) was published in the Official Gazette. This new law contains important cybersecurity obligations for a whole range of key economic and societal stakeholders. Several practical aspects of the new law will be further specified by Royal Decree, which is expected in the near future.

In terms of impact for targeted companies and organizations the new Act should not be underestimated: new preventive measures are to be taken, a dedicated incident notification mechanism is to be accounted for and all organizations must appoint a data protection officer (DPO). The parallel with the information security obligations in the GDPR is easily made, but there are significant differences between both legal instruments.

Considering the importance of this piece of legislation, Timelex lawyers Edwin Jacobs and Ruben Roex are pleased to invite you to our online seminar covering the following topics:

  • Which organizations are targeted by the Act?
  • What are the measures organizations must take to comply with the Act?
  • When, how and to whom are incidents to be reported?
  • What are the data protection aspects to take into account?
  • What are the risks associated with non-compliance and who will be competent for enforcing the obligations?

The online seminar takes place on Friday 30th of August 2019 from 12:00 to 13:30, with an opportunity for Q&A at the end.

Both materials and the seminar itself will be in English.
