Magdalena Kogut-Czarkowska is specialized in IT, privacy and data protection, cyber security and intellectual property law. She has vast experience with handling complex international privacy projects (GDPR and e-privacy) and high-profile strategic IT and IP matters. 

She is also involved in research and innovation projects funded by the European Union in the areas of data protection, technology, e-health and artificial intelligence. 

Prior professional experience 

Prior to joining Timelex in November 2020, Magdalena worked 14 years as a lawyer in the IPTech team of Baker & McKenzie in Warsaw, one of the largest international law firms. She provided advice to companies in the media, technology, pharma/life science, fintech and FMCG industry sectors.

She led GDPR implementation projects, represented clients before data protection authorities, conducted GDPR compliance trainings and provided strategic advice in relation to data monetization models. She also advised technology companies in regulatory matters, such as conducting e-commerce and digital transformation projects. Her experience included leading know-how and intellectual property transfer negotiations and drafting technology license agreements. 

At Baker & McKenzie, she was recommended by Legal 500 EMEA 2018 and 2019 in the area of TMT as a “rising star” and “next generation lawyer”.

Professional admissions and memberships

Magdalena has been a member of the Warsaw Bar Association since 2010.

She is a member of the Board of the Polish New Technology Law Association (Stowarzyszenie Prawa Nowych Technologii).
