Siyanna Lilova is specialised in data protection and cybersecurity law, intellectual property law, and IT law. She has a background working on copyright and privacy-related issues arising from the implementation of cutting-edge technologies.
Siyanna has experience in assisting clients with GDPR compliance, conducting data protection impact assessments, drafting data protection documentation such as privacy policies, data processing and data sharing agreements. She also advises on achieving compliance with legal and ethics requirements for trustworthy artificial intelligence.
She has an extensive practical and academic background in intellectual property law, including copyright, trademarks, patents, database rights, domain names and trade secrets. She advises on digital rights management, acting actions against copyright infringement, and online content removal procedures. Siyanna gives trainings on free licensing and specializes in both proprietary and open-source software licensing.
In addition, she is involved in cutting-edge legal consultancy and research projects in the areas of data protection, artificial intelligence, IT, intellectual property, and e-health, funded by the European Commission. In the context of these projects, she provides both legal and ethical advice and analysis as well as broader support to Timelex’s partners in these projects.
Siyanna is also the national representative of Creative Commons Bulgaria and co-founder of the digital rights protection NGO Digital Republic. She is actively engaged with the European copyright and platform regulation reforms, and organizes trainings and workshops promoting open access.
Prior professional experience
Prior to joining Timelex in 2022, Siyanna was a Bluebook Trainee at the European Commission, DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology, where she worked on upcoming digital legislation files.
She also worked for 2 years as a legal associate in IP and IT law at the law firm Gospodinov & Genchev in Sofia, Bulgaria.
